Your Journal
Your Journal is a private place to write and pray. Everything you save is encrypted, so it is never stored as readable text.
Writing an entry
Open Journal and you land on your list of entries, newest first, each with a short preview. To begin, tap New entry. This opens the composer, where you can write freely.
As you type, a draft is kept on your device so you do not lose your words. When you are ready, tap Save entry. Your entry is saved, and you are taken to it to read back what you wrote.
You can save a plain reflection, or mark an entry as a prayer so it appears in your Prayer Log. Writing in the Journal requires you to be signed in.
Your entries are encrypted
When you save an entry, it is locked with encryption that is unique to you before it is stored. The readable text is never kept on our servers and never written to our logs.
When you open an entry, it is unlocked just for you so you can read it again. Only basic details, like the date and the kind of entry, are kept in plain form so your list can be shown.
One thing to know: the unsaved draft the composer keeps as you type lives only in your own browser, in plain text, until you tap Save. It stays on your device.
The Prayer Log
From your Journal list, follow the Prayer log link to see your prayers gathered in one place. It is a quiet way to keep track of what you are bringing to God over time.
Each prayer can be Open, Answered, or Released, so you can return later and mark how things have moved. It is a gentle record of God's faithfulness across the seasons of your life.
Praying with a verse
When a passage in the Daily Word speaks to you, you can bring it to your Journal. The composer opens with that passage shown above your text, ready for you to respond in your own words.
The verse is there as context. The reflection is yours to write.
Managing your entries
You can delete any entry from the page where you read it. For now, entries cannot be edited after you save them, so take a moment before saving.
Your Journal belongs to you. If you ask for a copy of your data, your entries are included, unlocked and readable. If you delete your account, your Journal is removed with it.
We are still building more here, including a way to set a mood on an entry and a way to search what you have written.
