The Daily Word
Each day, Delighting offers you a passage of Scripture and a short reflection to sit with. Here is how it works and what you can do with it.
What the Daily Word is
The Daily Word is today's passage and a short reflection, shown together on a card. You see the date, the Scripture reference, the passage itself, and a few words to sit with.
It greets you on the home page as the centerpiece. If your streak is going, a small line on the card notes it.
You can also look back. The Daily Word archive lets you page through past days, one at a time. You can move to the previous day or return to today; you cannot move past today, since tomorrow's word has not arrived yet.
The action row
Under the card is a row of things you can do with today's word.
Pray with this opens a calm prayer space, already seeded with today's passage, so you can pause and pray without leaving the page.
Bring to journal opens the journal composer with today's passage shown above an empty space to write. The passage sits there as context; the words you add are your own.
Different verse asks for a fresh passage if today's does not meet you where you are. You can do this up to three times a day. Once you have used those, the button rests until tomorrow.
Mark as read records that you have spent time with today's word and advances your streak. The streak you see is the one we keep for you, so it stays honest across your devices.
Tapping a verse
The Scripture reference on the card is tappable. Tap it and the full passage slides in beside the card, shown word for word.
The reading stays gentle and out of the way. You can close it whenever you like and the Daily Word is still right there behind it.
From that passage you can also take it deeper, carrying the reference into a conversation when you want to study it further.
What we're still building
Sharing a Daily Word as an image is not ready yet. You will see a Share option marked as coming soon rather than a button that does nothing. We're building it, and it will arrive when it's ready.
Everything else in the action row works today: pray, bring it to your journal, ask for a different verse, mark it as read, and tap the verse to read the full passage.
